Pratibaddha III
Project Name: Pratibaddha III
Working Area: Bajhang, Jajarkot, Pyuthan, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchok
Project Partner: People in Need, Scott Wilson Nepal, Save The Children
Project Duration: 2024-2026
The Pratibaddha III: Whole of Society Approach for Increased Risk Ownership, Multi-Hazard Preparedness and Early Action in Hills Areas of Western Nepal has been implementing the consortium approach with People In Need (PIN), Community Self Reliance Centre (CSRC), Save the Children International (SCI) and Scott Wilson Nepal (SWN). It focuses on Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, targeting areas recently (November 3, 2023) impacted by earthquake (EQ), predicted EQ impacts, and its susceptibility to landslide risk. Similarly, the project will continue in the Bagmati Province to formally develop the project exit strategies. The project adopts a system-strengthening approach aiming to build the capacities of the provincial government (PG) and local government (LG) to lead in developing a landslide disaster preparedness (DP) and early action (EA) framework, increasing the scope for its replication in non-targeted LGs in the case of future disasters. The project has three results, R1 reduces hazard exposure, R2 enhances multi-hazard EA for at-risk communities, and R3 acts as a crisis modifier. As an implementing partner, CSRC manages the field staff in all working areas to implement Results 1 and 2 related activities.
Principal Objective:
To contribute to increased resilience of at-risk communities in Nepal’s western provinces’ landslide and earthquake-prone areas.
Specific Objective:
To strengthen at-risk communities and local, and provincial governments’ leadership and joint risk ownership in disaster mitigation, preparedness, and early action using a whole-of-society approach in central and western provinces.
